Wireless Heart Pump Developed by Scientist from New Zealand.

Scientist from New Zealand have recently developed a new technology for wireless heart pump and alternative to heart transplant which would save lives of thousands of people.Scientist from the university of Auckland said that using wire cables can cause serious infection to the patients, hence we have designed and developed a wireless heart pump that uses magnetic fields to transfer power to the heart pump through a person's skin.

David Budgett of the University of Auckland's bio-engineering institute made a recent statement that instead of going ahead with the heart transplant,we would very much like to encourage patients to have a preferred choice to be able to use the type of pump.

MicroMed is a U.S.A. based medical company who will be responsible for the integration of wireless technology with its own heart pump. This company has recieved the license for the technology from the University of Auckland.

In this technology a coil is used inside the body close to the collar bone to pick up the signals of the magnetic field that produces power required for the pump, another coil is used outside the patients body which can be placed inside the pocket.

The batteries used inside the body has enough power storage capacity for the pumps operation for at least one hour. During the patients heart surgery wired cables which go through there chest and stomach causes serious or fatal infection in forty percent of the patients.

Hence heart pumps are generally used to keep the patients alive before a heart surgery takes place.

A Race Car run on Solar Power can hit 60 mph.

Students from Cambridge University have designed a New Solar
Power Car which uses the same amount of energy as used in a hair
dryer can cruise at 60 miles per hour. The Formula I Championship
leader Jenson Button launched the car at the Goodwill Festival of
Speed. The car has been named “Endeavour.”
In this coming autumn the Endeavour will be competing across
Australia’s Outback in the 3000 Kms World Solar Challenge Race.
The Solar car uses high efficiency silicon cells on its roof, which
thereby captures all the power it requires from the solar energy.
Anthony Law who is the group manager said,”UK’s 35% of the
energy use is done by transportation, so on the climate change
there could be a big impact of on such areas. The solar car is priced
at UKpounds 200,000/-.For more detailed information about this

Students of IIT Kanpur India designed and developed the Nano Satellite.

A group of students from the Indian Institute of Technology in
Kanpur India have designed and developed a nano satellite that
can provide real-time data on forestation, drought, floods and
vegetation. The main features of the satellite is that it will send
imagery on actual ground condition,a tracking station at the
institute will be set up and real-time data on forestation, floods,
vegetation, and drought will be received.
Mr.Santanu Agrawal is a M.Phil student who headed a successful
team of whizkids in the design and development of the nano
satellite at the cost of US$ 500,000/-(ie:1/2 million dollars). The
satellite has been named “Jugnu”and will be launched by the end
of December 2009.The satellite will be handed over to the Indian
Space Research Organisation(ISRO)before the launching.
Satellites which are larger in size carry much more complicated
electronic components which weigh in tonnes. The nano satellite
(jugnu) will not require a dedicated launch as the weight of the
satellite is less than 8 kgs,and hence it can be carried on the back
of the larger satellite that will be launched.
Are you guessing where this term nanotechnology comes in,well
“jugnu”is termed as nano satellite for its small size and affordable
price.Recently the Indian Space Research Organisation have
started accepting satellites for launching in space from other
countries, colleges and universities.Hence this bought about an
inspiration to the students of the Indian institute of technology at
kanpur in India.
These twenty students of IIT Kanpur with an inspiration made up
there mind as a team to develop, design and fabricate a satellite
and hand it over to ISRO for the launch. Many of the space
agencies across the globe prefer to focus on larger satellites which
are much more complex than the not so popular nano satellites.
IIT Kanpur celebrates its golden jubilee this month, hence the
students designed and developed this nano satellite(jugnu) as a
contribution on behalf of the students to the institution. For more
