Wireless Heart Pump Developed by Scientist from New Zealand.

Scientist from New Zealand have recently developed a new technology for wireless heart pump and alternative to heart transplant which would save lives of thousands of people.Scientist from the university of Auckland said that using wire cables can cause serious infection to the patients, hence we have designed and developed a wireless heart pump that uses magnetic fields to transfer power to the heart pump through a person's skin.

David Budgett of the University of Auckland's bio-engineering institute made a recent statement that instead of going ahead with the heart transplant,we would very much like to encourage patients to have a preferred choice to be able to use the type of pump.

MicroMed is a U.S.A. based medical company who will be responsible for the integration of wireless technology with its own heart pump. This company has recieved the license for the technology from the University of Auckland.

In this technology a coil is used inside the body close to the collar bone to pick up the signals of the magnetic field that produces power required for the pump, another coil is used outside the patients body which can be placed inside the pocket.

The batteries used inside the body has enough power storage capacity for the pumps operation for at least one hour. During the patients heart surgery wired cables which go through there chest and stomach causes serious or fatal infection in forty percent of the patients.

Hence heart pumps are generally used to keep the patients alive before a heart surgery takes place.
